Emergency Food Distribution

For 35+ years, SMSJ has had food-focused mission program to support our Beechwood neighbors facing food insecurity. Today, we offer a weekly Food Shelf and a Summer Farm Stand to increase the amount of fresh, healthy food options in the community.

As a Foodlink, Inc. member agency, we offer a menu of choices based on the nutritional standards of "My Plate". During the growing season we provide freshly harvested veggies from our E.D.E.N. Gardens. We also have a well-stocked library that guests are welcome to use, and a Resource Corner where guests can learn about a wide variety of local programs and organizations.

Valid IDs are required for all Food Shelf Members. First-time Members must provide IDs for all household members. Everyone is welcome to visit Food Shelf two times a month.

Farm Stand

Join us Saturdays from 9:30-12:30!

SMSJ operates a Farm Stand every Saturday morning from July through September, directly outside of the church. At the market, you can find vegetables grown in the E.D.E.N. Gardens, as well as supplemental produce from other local growers!

Sometimes, we offer music, cooking demonstrations, and
a nutritionist at Farm Stand.

Emergency Food Deliveries

St. Mark's and St. John's is no longer providing emergency food deliveries as of 8/18/2021

As we saw the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the community around us, SMSJ quickly changed gears and began to deliver emergency food packages all around Rochester, providing families in need with a 3-day supply of groceries without having to leave their homes. Households in zip codes 14609 and 14621 were eligible to receive deliveries from SMSJ twice per month. As COVID-19 restrictions lifted and more resources became available, we decided to discontinue our emergency food delivery program and refocus our volunteers' time and energy into our weekly food pantry and community gardens.

If you are in need of food, are unable to leave your home, and live in zip codes 14609 or 14621, please call the South Wedge Food Pantry at 585-325-4950
