Emergency Food Distribution
For 35+ years, SMSJ has had food-focused mission program to support our Beechwood neighbors facing food insecurity. Today, we offer a weekly Food Shelf, twice-weekly Food Deliveries, and a Summer Farm Stand to increase the amount of fresh, healthy food options in the community.

As a Foodlink, Inc. member agency, we offer a menu of choices based on the nutritional standards of "My Plate". During the growing season we provide freshly harvested veggies from our E.D.E.N. Gardens. We also have a well-stocked library that guests are welcome to use, and a Resource Corner where guests can learn about a wide variety of local programs and organizations.
Valid IDs are required for all Food Shelf Members. First-time Members must provide IDs for all household members. Everyone is welcome to visit Food Shelf two times a month.
Finished for 2021
See you next year!
SMSJ operates a Farm Stand every Saturday morning from July through September, directly outside of the church. At the market, you can find vegetables grown in the E.D.E.N. Gardens, as well as supplemental produce from other local growers! This year, we are thankful for a partnership with Sunscape Farms CSA, offering additional produce. You can also purchase freshly baked bread as part of Bread Club.
Sometimes, we offer music, cooking demonstrations, and
a nutritionist at Farm Stand.
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits are accepted at the market.
Not operating in 2021.
See you next year!
Several years ago, Artisan Baker and Beechwood resident Nick Greco explored the possibility of raising funds for SMSJ by selling homemade bread at our Farm Stand. Nick began selling Ciabatta bread at the market on Saturdays. It was such a hit during the summer that Nick suggested we might try selling bread throughout the year. And so, the SMSJ Bread Club was born!
Emergency Food Deliveries
St. Mark's and St. John's is no longer providing emergency food deliveries as of 8/18/2021
As we saw the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the community around us, SMSJ quickly changed gears and began to deliver emergency food packages all around Rochester, providing families in need with a 3-day supply of groceries without having to leave their homes. Households in zip codes 14609 and 14621 were eligible to receive deliveries from SMSJ twice per month. As COVID-19 restrictions lifted and more resources became available, we decided to discontinue our emergency food delivery program and refocus our volunteers' time and energy into our weekly food pantry and community gardens.
If you are in need of food, are unable to leave your home, and live in zip codes 14609 or 14621, please call the South Wedge Food Pantry at 585-325-4950
